Briefs: Delnor bestows grant

The Delnor-Community Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $35,000 grant to Tri City Health Partnership, a free medical clinic in St. Charles, officials announced Wednesday. The clinic, at 318 Walnut St., opened in 2001 and has served more than 1,600 central Kane County residents who are uninsured, underinsured or public aide recipients. "Delnor continues to be an invaluable resource and allows us to continue our mission to serve those in the community in need," Shannon Watson, the partnership's executive director, said in a statement. Lincoln Hwy. club meets

The Illinois Lincoln Highway Association will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St. The public is welcome to learn about the group, including next year's multi-state yard sale and the first Lincoln Highway Five Rivers Arts and Antiques Tour in 2008. Free flights for kids

Children 6 to 17 can get free flights at Young Eagle Days from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 28 at the Aurora Municipal Airport in Sugar Grove. The flights are sponsored by Fox Valley Sport Aviation Association, EAA Chapter 579. Children will receive a certificate and a photo with the pilot. Call (630) 466-4579.

Red Cross dinner

The Fox River Chapter of the American Red Cross will sponsor its 90th annual Volunteer Recognition Awards dinner at 6 p.m. Monday at Niche, 14 S. Third St. in Geneva. Tickets are $50 per person and reservations are required. Call (630) 443-8844. The featured program will profile the life and times of American Red Cross founder Clara Barton. The Fox River Chapter was one of many local branches of the Red Cross founded in 1917 and 1918 due to America's involvement in World War I.

Club aids service agency

The Rotary Club of Geneva recently donated $500 to Tri-City Family Services. The gift will support Tri-City's annual Wilderness Challenge, which takes local teens about to enter high school on a weeklong camping and canoeing trip at the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. The trip helps teens who could benefit from a strong character-building experience that will aid in their transition to high school life.

Rose competition planned

The Fox Valley Rose Society will host its annual Fall Rose Show on Sunday in the choir room at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 401 Main St., West Dundee. The Fourth Street entrance will open at 1 p.m. for grooming your roses. Judging will start at 2 p.m. There are nine different classes or opportunities to enter roses. The society will provide vases, prizes, entry blanks, ribbons and assistance for those who need it. Admission is free, and you don't have to be a member of the Fox Valley Rose Society to enter a rose in the show. Call (847) 426-4593.
