Travolta still has the moves 30 years later

Thirty years ago, a film about a troubled young man from Brooklyn became a hit around the world. John Travolta starred as Tony Manero, whose ordinary life became magic on Saturday night, when he would shine on the dance floor as the best dancer at the local disco.

"Saturday Night Fever" became much more than a motion picture, thanks to a great soundtrack by the Bee Gees, which became the foundation for the disco era. The dancing in the film is terrific, and it's a realistic look at life in the late 1970s.

Travolta received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, and the film grossed more than $200 million.

Roger Corman made low-budget exploitation films that led to him being known as "King of the B-Movies." Corman shot his films quickly, and they usually made money as popular features at local drive-ins.
