Mucca weekend

Mucca Pazza, the indie rock marching band that has risen to prominence in the Chicago area and boasts a large lineup of horns, drums, accordions and cheerleaders, hosts two shows at the Hideout this weekend.

The band hosts a benefit tonight for West Coast Bikes, a Chicago bicycle co-op. On Saturday, legendary X singer Exene Cervenka performs with the band for a benefit for Young Chicago Authors, a creative writing program for teenagers.

Grammy honors

Kanye West, Cheap Trick and Metro/Smart Bar owner Joe Shanahan are this year's recipients of awards given by the Chicago Chapter of The Recording Academy, the same organization responsible for the Grammys.

The ceremony, supporting the organization's education and professional development programs and including a dinner, cocktail hour, celebrity presenters and performers, will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk, 151 E. Wacker Drive, Chicago. Tickets cost $175 for nonmembers and $125 for members. Call (312) 786-1121.
