Suicide-prone girls our society's fault
I'm saddened but not surprised that the suicide rate is up for young American girls. Look at how we adults present the world.
We live in the greatest nation on the planet and should be encouraging our young people to celebrate this fact, yet we dwell on manufactured negatives. Some of our leaders, aided by sympathetic press organizations, portray our nation as being unfair to the underprivileged and disadvantaged when nothing could be further from the truth. International organizations with nefarious political goals get away with saying the Earth is doomed because of environmental changes, and at the root of the problem is the prosperity of the United States and other Western nations. Politicians who will say or do anything to get elected claim that our effort to halt the spread of worldwide terrorism is really just an attempt to grab the wealth of other nations.
Is it any wonder young Americans have a bleak outlook?
Add to this the unrealistic depictions of the female body that the glamour industry and media present to our young women and we have a recipe for disaster.
Shame on us for allowing this attack on our youth.
