Join 'PrairieScapes' program and walk

Prairie plants offer many benefits. Because they are native to our area, they require little water, fertilizer, pesticide, or maintenance, at the same time attracting birds and butterflies.

Learn more about prairie plants and how to incorporate them into your existing landscape at "PrairieScapes: Grow Native!" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at University of Illinois Extension at 535 S. Randall Road in St. Charles

On Saturday, join a Kane County Master Gardener at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve for a walk in the prairie there from 10 a.m. to noon. The forest preserve is off Dean Street, west of Randall Road in St. Charles. The cost of "PrairieScapes: Grow Native!" is $10 and the prairie walk is included. For those attending the prairie walk only, $5 will be collected at LeRoy Oakes. Registration is required. Register online at kane.extension.uiuc.edu or call (630) 584-6166.
