Tollway ramps reopen as crews work to repair gas main break
Construction workers broke a four-inch natural gas line this afternoon near the intersection of Diehl Road and Freedom Commons Drive in north Naperville.
Gas was turned off in the area and repairs began around 4:30 p.m., Nicor officials said
Some ramps to the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway were closed for a short time, but they were reopened once the gas was shut off.
The break occurred around 2 p.m. and workers building roads and stores along Freedom Commons Drive were evacuated as a precaution. Nicor repair crews were notified and arrived in the area 30 to 45 minutes later, company officials said.
Curb work was being done in the area where the break occurred, Nicor officials said.
