Briefs: Celebrate the Constitution
Abigail Adams, the wife of John Quincy Adams, America's sixth president, will speak today about her life during Elgin Community College's celebration of Constitution Day. Adams, portrayed by Leslie Goddard of Des Plaines, will speak from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Student Resource Center Alumni Room on ECC's main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive. The event is free and open to the public. Throughout the day, visitors can participate in a quiz that will test their knowledge of the Constitution. Also, "Schoolhouse Rock" videos will be shown and free copies of the Constitution will be distributed. Dundee discusses burning
The village of East Dundee will hold a public discussion on its open burning policy tonight at the Dundee Township Senior Center, 665 Barrington Ave., in Carpentersville. Residents are encouraged to discuss the continuation of open burning within the village. This committee of the whole workshop will precede the regular 7 p.m. village board meeting. Elgin neighbors meet
Elgin's South West Area Neighbors will meet at 7 p.m. today to discuss issues related to code enforcement and crime-free housing. Vince Cuchetto and Debbie Arneson, from the city's code enforcement department, and Elgin Police Sgt. Gary Neal will be on hand to address some recent concerns.
