Mod offers unique amenities in West Loop

Mod, a West Loop condo building, features a green roof, energy-efficient elevators and a fitness room with yoga loft.

Sales are opening at Mod, a 92-unit new-construction contemporary-style mid-rise condominium development in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood.

"The Chicago architecture firm of Sullivan Goulette & Wilson designed Mod's two five-story glass-and-steel buildings set off with bold red vertical panels on the façade," said Charles Huzenis, principal in Jameson Realty Group, which is marketing several condominium developments in the area.

Plans for Mod call for a 56-unit building at 1222 W. Madison and a 36-unit property next door at 1224 W. Madison, Huzenis said. Mod also will have 5,014 square feet of ground floor retail space. The sales center and model is at 1131 W. Madison.

One-bedroom, two-bedroom, and two-bedroom-plus-den residences with one or two baths and 860 to 1,411 square feet of living area are planned.

Pre-construction prices range from $284,900 to $499,900. Parking spaces are available for $35,000.

Mod's developers chose unusual finishes -- polished concrete floors, kitchen counters made from a heat-resistant quartz composite and European kitchen cabinets highlighted by teak veneer, aluminum and glass.

Mod kitchens are equipped with full stainless-steel appliance package.

Master baths feature teak wood veneer cabinets, quartz countertop, square sinks, Grohe faucets, tiled shower and bath enclosure and a full height mirror with pendant lighting.

Condos also come with laundry hook-ups with space for full size appliances. Mod will feature a green roof, two energy-efficient elevators, a fitness room with yoga loft and bike storage.

One of the most popular floor plans is Model 10, a two-bedroom residence with two baths priced from $359,900.

Within walking distance is the famed "Restaurant Row" along a six-block stretch of Randolph Street, including restaurants like Blackbird, Sushi Wabi, Vivo and Marche.

The West Loop boasts Starbucks, Walgreens, White Hen, Dominick's, Blockbuster, Saxbys Coffee and numerous specialty stores.

The Mod sales center and model at 1131 W. Madison is open 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call Mike Battista of Jameson Realty Group at (312) 455-9200, or visit www.modcondoschicago.com.
