Lake Villa Civil War re-enactment this weekend

The Lake Villa Civil War Reenactment/Living History Weekend will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lehmann Mansion, 485 N. Milwaukee Ave., Lake Villa.

Guests will be able to walk through the camps and speak with re-enactors, shop for authentic clothing and souvenirs, and meet guests such as President and Mrs. Lincoln; Senator Stephen Douglas; Harriet Tubman; and Generals Grant, Lee, Thomas and Custer.

Dance instruction on Saturday will prepare guests for the Civil War Ball on Saturday night. Musicians will perform throughout the day and food will be available.

Admission to the family-friendly event will be $5 per person, free for children under 5, or $10 for a weekend pass, which includes a mansion tour. Tours of the mansion are $5 per person, which includes a display of Civil War clothing. Proceeds benefit the Lake Villa Historical Society.

The Civil War Ball and Dinner will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday. Guests will begin the evening with a tour of selected campsites. Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar will be available in the mansion, followed by a banquet dinner in the tent. Advanced reservations are required. Evening attire is required and period costumes are encouraged. Tickets are available for $50 per person at the Lake Villa Village Hall.

A pancake breakfast will be presented by the Boy Scouts from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday for $5 per person.
