Lincolnshire Prairie-View School District 103 notes

Guide to curriculum: Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 is distributing a new resource, "Guide to the District 103 Curriculum" to provide parents with a clear idea of the skills elementary school students work on mastering from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Each family with children in District 103 schools can expect to receive a Guide to the District 103 Curriculum this week when it will be sent home with each family's youngest child.

"The Guide to the District 103 Curriculum" encompasses core academic areas, such as reading/language arts, math, science and social science. Furthermore, it incorporates the most recent revisions to the reading/language arts curriculum, which were made this past summer.

The guide includes the curricular areas of technology, physical education/health, fine arts, creative arts and foreign language.

Additional background on the district's approach to instruction, curriculum review cycles and special services, and math and language arts placement for junior high school students is also contained in this guide.

The skills identified for each subject area represent goals for achievement by grade level with the Illinois Learning Standards as their baseline.

Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 includes Sprague School for students in kindergarten to second grades, Half Day School for third and fourth grades and Daniel Wright Junior High School for fifth through eighth grade students.
