Cash stolen in Glen Ellyn Library break-in
A small amount of cash was reported missing from the Glen Ellyn Public Library after a break-in.
Someone gained access to the library, 400 Duane St., sometime between Tuesday night and 7 a.m. Wednesday by breaking a window on a door, Glen Ellyn police said.
"They went through some drawers and took a small amount of cash," Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said. "Nothing else was missing or damaged."
Authorities said they didn't know how much money was stolen. They wouldn't comment on the location of the drawers.
"We haven't had too many reports of people breaking into the library," Holmer said. "I don't know if it was just an opportunistic crime for somebody, or if they found themselves in a position where they felt secluded or had enough time."
Officials wouldn't comment on whether the offender could have been an employee or random individual.
"At this point, I don't have enough to speculate," Holmer said.
