Dancenter holding auditions, casting for 'Nutcracker'

Dancenter North is seeking boys ages 8-15 to be cast members of their 19th annual production of "The Magic of the Nutcracker." Auditions will take place at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at Dancenter North, 540 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

Dancenter North is seeking boys who act and have the ability to move well to be a part of the lavish "party scene" in "The Magic of the Nutcracker." No dance ability is required; however, athleticism is a must. Auditionees are asked to bring a current head shot (or school photo) as well as a list of commitments that may conflict with the rehearsal schedule. No appointment is required to audition.

The production features a large cast of local dancers, singers, and gymnasts, as well as renowned international guest artists. "The Magic of the Nutcracker," which is produced and directed by Dancenter North's Director, Cheri Lindell, will be performed in two venues: Libertyville High School and the historic Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. Performances will be held on Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. and on Dec. 9 at 1 and 5 p.m. at Libertyville High School, and on Dec. 15 and 16 at 3 p.m. at the Genesee Theatre.
