Aurora man killed in shooting
Aurora police are looking for any leads in connection with an overnight murder on the city's near east side.
Anthony D. Jackson, 19, of the 1200 block of Liberty Street was shot in the head as he was riding in an SUV with two other 19-year-olds in the area of Spring and Union streets, police said. The shooting occurred around 10:45 p.m. The other men were uninjured.
Several shots were fired at the SUV, but police have no idea from where the shots originated. They are unsure if it was one shooter or multiple gunmen and whether any other vehicle was involved or if the suspect or suspects were on foot. They do believe the incident was gang motivated according to a department press release.
Jackson was transported to an Aurora hospital by the SUV's driver and pronounced dead just after 11 p.m.
Anyone with information the shooting is urged to call investigators at (630) 801-6686. A reward of up to $1,000 is also being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Tipsters may remain anonymous and still receive the reward by calling (630) 892-1000.
