All pro­grams require ad­vance registra­tion. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Sat­urday.

There is an after-hours drop slot at the south entrance of the Viking Park Administrative Building. Registration and payments by check, Visa or MasterCard only, should be enclosed in a sealed en­velope. The drop slot will be emp­tied at 9 a.m. each business day. There is also a drive-up col­lection box at the circle drive in Viking Park.

Belly Dancing: The Gurnee Park District is offering Beginning Belly Dance and Intermediate Belly Dance classes from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 17 through Nov. 19 for ages 16 years and up. Women of all ages, shapes and sizes can enjoy the benefits of belly dancing. Classes take place at the Viking Park Dance Studio in Viking Park.

Broadway Kidz: These classes will help children perfect their performance skills while learning vocal techniques and movements to Broadway tunes. From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 29 through Dec. 8 at the Hunt Club Park Community Center for kids 7-10 years old.

Farmers Market: The Gurnee Park District's Farmer's Market's last day is from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday. It is offering some of the freshest produce of the season. The Farmers Market is located in Viking Park at 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.

Basketball Leagues: Registration is now being accepted for basketball leagues for kids in first through eighth grade. Practices are held one night a week and all games are on Saturdays. Visit the Web site or see page 30-31 in the fall brochure for more information about dates and times.

Fall Preschool: Registration for the Gurnee Park District Sunbeams & Rainbows, Sunshine Explorers and Blossoms and Buds preschool classes for the 2007-08 school year is currently taking place. Gurnee Park District preschool classes are held at Viking Park and Hunt Club Park Community Centers. The programs place an emphasis on the whole of a child's development and learning experiences. Studio dance: The Gurnee Park District's dance classes are designed to introduce and continue boys and girls' knowledge and skills in a variety of dance styles. Classes are offered for students ages 2½ to 18. For a complete list of the age group and type of dance classes offered, visit the Web site.

Buy a Fit Pass: There is no orientation fee. Membership to the New Hunt Club Park Community Center Fitness Area offers full access to Precor cardiovascular equipment with personal viewing screens including treadmills, elliptical trainers, bicycles and stair climbers, Magnum E-Series Fitness System weight stations, free weight dumbbells, running/walking track, a discount on fitness classes and participation in pick-up games of basketball or volleyball in the gym. See everything offered at the new Hunt Club Community Center on the Web site. Fit Pass Memberships are on sale today via mail or drop off registration or register online. Membership upgrades are now being offered starting at $10 a month for unlimited group exercise classes, childcare, family activity room, rock climbing wall and open gym.

Child Care Room: The Hunt Club Community Center Child Care Room accepts reservations and drop-ins, based on availability for children 3 months to 6 years. Children 3 months to 24 months will be accepted by reservation only. Parents must remain on-site while their children are in the Child Care Room. The maximum allowable time for children 3-24 months is an hour and a half. The maximum allowable time for children 2-6 years is two hours. The fee is $3 an hour for residents/$4 an hour for nonresidents. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. A complete list of guidelines is available at the Hunt Club Park Child Care Room or can be obtained online.

Exercise and training: The Hunt Club Park Community Center offers more than 20 group exercise classes a week including kick boxing, yoga, group strength, step, boot camp and more, and nationally certified personal trainers. Check out the schedule online or in person at the Hunt Club Park Community Center. It is not necessary to be a member to take part in group exercise classes. Personal trainers are available for a reasonable price. Stop by the Community Center to view their pictures and biographies.

Toddler Open Gym: Bring toddlers to the Hunt Club Park Gym to have fun playing with scooters, bean bags, balls and more. Parents must remain with their children. Registration is not required. Toddler Open Gym is open Monday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hunt Club Park Community Center.

Gift certificates: Gift Certificates are available for purchase throughout the year. Purchase a gift certificate for any recreation program, facility or event. Gurnee Park District Gift Certificates may be purchased in any denomination at the Viking Park Registration Office.

Before & After School CARE: The park district is now offering Before and After School CARE from preschool through eighth grade. Children will enjoy a morning and/or afternoon of supervised play in a relaxed and recreational environment. Registrations are being taken now for the 2007-08 school year.

After Preschool CARE: Children will be escorted from preschool to this program for an afternoon of supervised play. Children must be 4 years old to participate in this program. Details are on page 16 of the fall brochure. Registrations are now being accepted for the 2007-08 school year.

Family Activity Room: The Family Activity Room is open at the new Hunt Club Park Community Center at 900 N. Hunt Club Road. For children ages 5 and up, the Family Activity Room is a great place for families to play together and for children to drop in and play. For a nominal fee kids can take part in activities run by trained counselors. The room is equipped with games, arts and crafts, computers with family friendly software, foosball table, Dance Dance Revolution Pads, a Lego room and much more.

Rock Climbing Wall: Challenge friends and family on the 24-foot rock climbing wall at the Hunt Club Park Community Center.

Open Gym: Work on that jump shot or join in on a pick-up game during open gym at the new Hunt Club Park Community Center.
