9/11 event today in Gurnee's Viking Park

A 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony is set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at Viking Park's band shell and main hall in Gurnee.

Police and fire department honor guards, Mayor Kristina Kovarik, Democratic U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean, the Great Lakes Naval Station band, grade-school students and more will attend.

Several awards will be presented, including law enforcement officer of the year.
