ComEd does not deserve criticism

Well, this was predictable.

Major storm comes through the area, knocks out power to thousands of people, power gets restored, and people who know nothing about the electric industry attack Commonwealth Edison for not restoring power fast enough.

I've got two words for the attackers; shut up.

I am not a Commonwealth Edison employee.

I lost power in my home for almost 52 hours from Aug. 23 to Aug. 25. I had to throw everything out of my refrigerator and replace it.

But, I want to thank the hardworking crews from Commonwealth Edison for responding to this storm and getting power back on as soon as they could. It's hard, dangerous work finding the source of a power outage, doing necessary cleanup and repairs, and getting power back on, all while working with high voltage electrical equipment.

My power went out as the result of a transformer fire. How was Commonwealth Edison supposed to predict that would happen?

While many who know nothing about electricity will do the fashionable thing and bash Commonwealth Edison as an evil big business, I again thank them for their hard work responding to the recent storms and praise them for maintaining a reliable supply of electricity in the face of the unwarranted attacks against them.

Keep up the good work, Commonwealth Edison.
