Man sentenced 15 years for molestation
An Antioch Township man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday after admitting he molested a 12-year-old girl.
Carl Doty, 46, pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse during a hearing before Circuit Judge James Booras.
Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said Doty molested the girl at least four times between July 2006 and his arrest Jan. 24.
The attacks took place at Doty's home at 42825 Woodbine Drive, Foy said.
Doty was arrested after the girl told her mother and the woman called sheriff's police.
Doty had been serving as the Cubmaster and Wolf Den Leader for Antioch Cub Scout Pack 93, but was fired when Scouting officials learned of his arrest.
Sheriff's police never uncovered any allegation of sexual misconduct related to Doty's service with the Scouts, Foy said.
Doty agreed to plead guilty in a negotiation that called for him to be sentenced to 15 years for the predatory sexual assault and five years for the aggravated criminal sexual abuse, with the sentences to be served at the same time.
Booras told Doty he will have to serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Once released from prison, Doty will be on parole and required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
