Board tape shows three-ring circus

I watched the Carpentersville Village Board meeting that was televised Aug. 24. This was like watching a three-ring circus!

There are some very important issues to be discussed and voted on, but instead, a couple of the trustees were airing their personal differences.

When the members were asked to give reports, Linda Ramirez Sliwinski made a comment in Spanish.

She was reminded English only is to be spoken. She refused to translate.

I felt this was very disrespectful to not only the other trustees, but to the public that voted for her.

She is to be representing all the voters, not just a few.

The issue of no insurance, no driver's license and drunken driving are very important to everyone.

She seems to feel the board is profiling the Hispanic community. Shame on her.

Is this what she really believes?

It doesn't matter what race, color or creed people are, and this can apply to them. There is law already regarding these matters.

As far as impounding the cars, good.

All of us should regard driving as a privilege. We have in our hands a lethal weapon when behind the wheel of a motorized vehicle.

As a voter and resident of Carpentersville, I would like to have our village trustees behave as adults, and put away their petty differences and get down to the real issues of the village.
