Health screenings at Alcott Center
Life Line Screening will host screenings for stroke, heart attack or bone fracture risk Monday at the Buffalo Grove Park District Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.
Life Line Screening uses painless ultrasound technology to examine the arteries in the legs and arms, carotid arteries in the neck and the abdominal aorta. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered and is appropriate for both men and women.

Petitions available for Feb. 5 election
Nominating petitions are available at the Democratic Party Office for candidates running for president, U.S. Congress, state senator and state representative and other offices. Candidates need to collect signatures from registered voters for their names to appear on the ballot in the Democratic Party Primary on Feb. 5.

Park district movie re-scheduled
The Wheeling Park District is hosting a free movie in the park at dusk Sept. 14 at the Community Recreation Center Shelter, 333 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling.
The community is invited to bring blankets, chairs and popcorn and join family, friends and neighbors in viewing the free showing of "Kicking and Screaming" on a giant screen set up adjacent to the Community Recreation Center. The 2005 movie starring Will Ferrell, Robert Duvall and Mike Ditka is rated PG.
This is the last in the series of free summer entertainment offered by the Wheeling Park District.

Donate blood on Sept. 11
The College of Lake County Health Center will conduct a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 11 in the Brandel Court of Building B on the Grayslake Campus.
Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and not have donated blood within 56 days. Donors will receive a mini-physical that includes a blood pressure check and iron-level count. Bring a photo ID.
