Tell us about your fall, winter bazaar

Is your not-for-profit group having a fall or winter bazaar? An arts & crafts show? Let us help you spread the word.

Our much-anticipated annual listing of holiday bazaars and craft shows will publish Oct. 5 in the Neighbor section. The deadline to be included is Sept. 28.

Write up the basic details of your event. Be sure to include when and where the event will take place, the cost of admission, highlights and a phone number or e-mail address readers can use to get more details. Also include a phone number just for us, in case we need to ask you a question prior to publication. There is no charge to be included in the listing.

Newsletters win District 62 honors

The National School Public Relations Association recently awarded Community Consolidated School District 62 for its two monthly newsletters, Inside 62 and Cabinet Newsletter.

Inside 62, the newsletter e-mailed to district staff members, received an Honorable Mention, while Cabinet Newsletter, e-mailed to district administrators, received the group's second-highest honor, an Award of Merit.

District 23 nets excellence award

Prospect Heights Elementary School District 23 was awarded a Bright Red Apple award of excellence by SchoolSearch, an educational research and consulting firm that publishes online rankings of school systems.

District 23 joins the list of 84 school districts in Illinois among the 872 school districts chosen nationwide to receive the award.

Criteria for school districts receiving the award are: academic performance, pupil-teacher ratio, expenditure per pupil, educational level of teachers, and average teacher salary.
