Come see natural garden in Algonquin
The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee hosts its monthly "Walks on the Wild Side." The next walk will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 15 at the home of Sandy and Al Voss, 900 N. Vista Drive in Algonquin.
This is a guided tour of a natural yard, free of charge. Experts will be available to answer questions.
This is your opportunity to see native wildflowers used in a traditional yard setting. For the past six years, Sandy Voss has been replacing areas of lawn grass with native prairie and woodland species.
Even in this smaller space, Sandy's garden now includes more than 150 species of native wildflowers. See the dry stream bed and rain garden planted last year.
As always, this is a guided tour that begins at 10 a.m. and lasts about two hours. Experts will be on hand to provide advice and answer your questions.
There is no charge for this program. The WPPC is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting native species through preservation, propagation, and education.
