Indian Summer Festival: Adults and children can visit the biggest Native American festival in the United States from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The festival features dancing, singing and drumming, as well as tribal villages, cooking encampments, cultural demonstrations, storytellers, fine arts and crafts, authentic foods, and five stages of entertainment. All on the shore Lake Michigan at Henry Maier Festival Park. Sign up by today.

Let's Go Girls Sports: This class will introduce basketball, soccer, hockey, T-ball and more in an all-girl environment. Basic skills in all sports are taught, and games are played at the end of each class. For girl's ages 4 to 7, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Saturdays, this Saturday to Oct. 13. The cost is $60 for residents, and $69 for nonresidents. No class Nov. 24 or Dec. 1.

Pee Wee Soccer Stars: This class helps children learn the fundamentals of soccer in a noncompetitive setting. Dribbling, passing, shooting and kicking will all be emphasized with good sportsmanship included. Basic skills are taught through games, drills and fun. All participants will receive a T-shirt. The class is for ages 3 to 4 from noon to 12:45 p.m., 1 to 1:45 p.m., and 2 to 2:45 p.m. on Saturdays from this Saturday to Oct. 13 at Forest View Park. The cost is $65 for residents, and $74 for nonresidents.

Just Like an Artist: This class will give children ages 7 to 12 an opportunity to learn more about artists and types of art. At the beginning of every class students will read about a particular artist, get their background, show examples of their artwork, and talk about the artist's technique. Students will then be shown an example of what they will create, and have the directions and steps explained to them. All materials will be provided. From 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays, this Monday to Oct. 29. The cost is $70 for residents, $77 for nonresidents.

Little Chefs: Children ages 3 to 5 who like to help in the kitchen can create simple and age-appropriate treats from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, this Monday to Oct. 1. We'll measure, mix and do a little baking to create some tasty recipes. Take home two new recipe cards each week.

Pilates: Pilates is an exercise program intended to restore muscular balance, build strength and flexibility, increase coordination and emphasize and improve body alignment and posture. A thick mat is required and must be provided by the participant. Comfortable clothing, such tights, sweats or shorts is also recommended. This class is for ages 16 and over, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, this Monday to Oct. 22 and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, this Wednesday to Oct. 24. The cost of the class is $45 for residents, $52 for nonresidents.

Flag Football: Kids can learn the fundamentals of football without the tackling in this class. Regular football gear will not be used. All equipment is provided and participants will receive a T-shirt. For ages 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays, this Monday to Oct. 15. The fee is $65 for residents, $74 for nonresidents

Lakes Cheerleading Camp: Learn the correct technique of arm motions, jumps, cheers, dances and stunts for cheerleading. All participants will receive a T-shirt. For ages 5 to 7, and 8 to 11 from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays, this Monday to Oct. 22, with no class on Oct. 8. The fee is $65 for residents, $74 for nonresidents. This class is taught by Lakes High School Cheerleaders and their coaches.

Kessel's Basketball Camp: Coach Kessel will break down and reinforce the proper techniques for shooting accuracy to improving players' shooting ability. Participants will also learn the proper jump shot and how to beat their man off the dribble. Kessel's Camp is for girls and boys in fifth through eighth grade from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, this Tuesday to Oct. 23, at Millburn West School, 640 Freedom Way, Lindenhurst. The cost is $165.

Fun Watercolor Painting: Students of all levels will learn about specific tools and tricks used in creating watercolor paintings from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, this Tuesday to Oct. 16. Lessons will cover steps used to create basic compositions to tricks and techniques to make the medium easier and more fun. Painting subjects include landscapes, barns, seascapes, floral and "class recommended favorites." A suggested supply list and instruction sheets will be supplied before the first class. The class is for ages 12 and up. The cost is $70 for residents and $80 for nonresidents.

Toddlers Messy Mayhem: Children ages 2 to 3 with a parent can have a messy time from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, this Wednesday to Oct. 3. The park district will provide the projects, the materials and, most importantly, the clean-up. Bring a smock or an old T-shirt. Parents are encouraged to get messy with their children. The cost of this class is $30 for residents, and $38 for nonresidents.

After School Crafts: Make a new craft at each class. All materials and supplies will be provided. Lindenhurst Park District Before/After School participants take $2 off the price of the class. Craft classes are from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesdays for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The cost is $19 for residents, $24 for nonresidents per class. The classes for September are Design your own Kaleidoscopes on Wednesday and Memory Box Sept. 26.

Family Music Masters: Join in musical activities designed to challenge differences in development. Family Music Masters will benefit both multi-age families and single child families wishing to participate in a multi-age classroom. This class is for ages 6 months and up from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays, this Thursday to Oct. 18. The cost is $65 for residents, and $75 for nonresidents. Music Masters is also offered for other age groups.

Healthy eating: This is not a cooking class, but rather a class in managing all aspects surrounding feeding a family. Look at the substitutes of take out, fast food and overly processed grocery items to change them into freshly prepared meals. Participants will have an opportunity to purchase resources at class to guide them in the process. This class is for ages 18 and over from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 13, from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 15 or from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 24. The cost of the class is $30 for residents, and $37 for nonresidents. This class will be held in Grayslake, but participants can sign up at the Lindenhurst Park District.

Storybook Fun with Friends: Then children ages 3 1/2 to 5 along with their favorite stuffed animal and favorite book. Children will listen to a new book each week that their friends bring in, share stories, and enjoy a fun snack together. From 9:15 to 10 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 13 to Oct. 18. The cost is $34 for residents, $42 for nonresidents.

Ice Cream Social: Parents can drop off their children ages 4 to 6 for a fun night at an ice cream social from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 14. Participants will play games, do crafts and enjoy an ice cream bar. Note any food allergies on the registration form. The cost is $16 for residents, $20 for nonresidents.

Co-Ed Indoor Youth Tennis: Kids ages 6 to 9 will learn the right way to hold their rackets, the proper techniques of striking the ball, and the rules and positioning of the game. Fun is the number-one goal. Every player will stay active and involved. A tennis racket is needed to participate. From 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 to Oct. 19. The cost is $60 for residents, and $69 for nonresidents.

Digital Movie Making: Children ages 8 to 12 can shoot their own video clips with the Digital Blue Digital Movie Creator, then download and save them onto a hard drive to edit them and add titles, credits, special effects, sound animation and music to create their personal movie, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 17 through Nov. 12 (no class Oct. 8). Students will burn a CD/DVD of their finished product to take home. The cost is $100 for residents, $110 for nonresidents.
