Hundreds without power in northern Fox Valley

About 700 ComEd customers have been without power since a 2 p.m. outage, a ComEd spokeswoman said this afternoon.

The outage knocked out power to more than 1,400 customers in Algonquin, Carpentersville and West Dundee.

Power was restored to about half of those customers by 3 p.m.

ComEd crews are on site working to restore electricity to the other half. ComEd did not have an estimate for when the work would be complete. The cause of the outage is under investigation.

A ComEd transformer failure in Elgin Wednesday afternoon prompted Larkin High School to cancel its annual parent night Wednesday evening.
