Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.

Participants must register in advance for all programs at the administrative building. Registration is required one week prior to each program. If the minimum number of registrations is not received five days prior to each program, the program will be canceled.

Intermediate golf clinic: This clinic for golfers ages 10 through adult who want to improve their swing and golf scores includes a review of basic swing fundamentals, techniques on improving distance and accuracy, short game techniques, sand play and course management. The clinic will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays, today to Oct. 4. The first four lessons will be held at the Master Golf Driving Range and the last lesson at the Carillon North of Grayslake Golf Course. Participants must have some prior golf experience. The cost is $80.

Boys Lacrosse Camp: Beginners and experienced players in fourth through ninth grade can practice the fundamentals of lacrosse, including catching, passing, scooping, dodging and defense. Participants do drills designed to teach and develop these skills as well as team concepts to be used in intra-squad scrimmages. Players are required to have their own lacrosse stick and mouth guard. Sticks are available for purchase from Lacrosse America. Boys must wear protective equipment consisting of a helmet, shoulder and arm pads and gloves. This equipment can be rented from Lacrosse America for a $60 fee. Hockey helmets and pads may be used in place of lacrosse equipment. Camp will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Fridays, this Friday to Oct. 12 at Mill Creek Park. Cost is $95 for residents, and $115 for nonresidents.

Girls Travel Basketball: Girls Travel Basketball tryouts will be held for Grayslake Central and North High School feeder teams Sept. 16 and 23. Participants should attend both tryout dates.

Designed for players in fifth through eighth grade who reside within the Grayslake High School District 127 boundaries, this program provides an opportunity to play competitive basketball while continuing to learn basketball skills. A solid commitment is necessary from both parents and players regarding practice and game schedules.

Tryout times for Sept. 16 are:

• Fifth-grade: 10:30 a.m. to noon.

• Sixth-grade: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Seventh-grade: 12:30 to 2 p.m.

• Eighth-grade: 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Tryout times for Sept. 23 are:

• Fifth-grade: 1:45 to 3 p.m.

• Sixth-grade: 2:45 to 4 p.m.

• Seventh-grade: 3:45 to 5 p.m.

• Eighth-grade: 4:45 to 6 p.m.

All tryouts will be held at Grayslake North High School. On Sept. 16, a parent must accompany the player to tryouts to fill out paperwork. Players must register in advance for tryouts. There is a $20 tryout fee, which includes a tryout shirt. For those who make the team, the league fee will be $300 along with a uniform fee of $60 (players keep the uniform). Players from last year teams will not have to purchase new uniforms unless needed.

If chosen for a team, uniforms and League Fees will be due on Nov. 3. Any person who would like to be considered as a head coach or assistant coach must fill out an application and complete a background check. Coaches will be selected after the tryouts.

Grand Opening: The new Grayslake Park District Recreation Center and Administrative Offices will hold a Grand Opening Celebration from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 23. The event will include activities and demonstrations in every room, including arts and crafts, dance, fitness/yoga/tai chi, sports and games, preschool activities and more. There will also be face painting and temporary tattoos, free balloons, free refreshments, raffles, giveaways and building tours. Guests can meet the staff and board of commissioners and register for upcoming programs. The first 50 families attending will receive a $10 certificate good toward a park district program.

Afterschool Sports: One or two sports will be played each day with rules and fundamentals being taught. Games may be held indoors or outdoors, depending on weather. Sports covered will include soccer, basketball, football, softball, volleyball, baseball, kickball, floor hockey, dodge ball, bocce ball and more. Students will meet in the gym when school is dismissed. Classes, for first- through fourth-graders will be held from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. at several District 46 schools from October to December. Call for specific dates and costs. Meadowview School will meet on Mondays. Prairieview School and Woodview Schools will offer classes on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Scrapbooking Crop Club: Experienced scrapbooker, Rebecca Quackenbush will help participants get inspired, share ideas and complete pages in their scrapbooks from 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Rec Center Multipurpose Room A.She will provide layout ideas so scrapbookers can complete 16 pages in just one evening. This class is for adults. Cost is $10 for residents, $13 for nonresidents.
