Brama Bread coming to downtown Arlington Hts.

Panera Bread in downtown Arlington Heights will soon have some competition.

The Arlington Heights village board approved plans for a new restaurant called Brama Bread on Tuesday. The new restaurant will be open for breakfast and lunch and specialize in healthy meals.

Arlington Heights resident Agnes Zietek will open her Brama Bread store at 6 S. Dunton Ave. Her menu will feature everything from sandwiches and salads to pancakes and omelets.

"The most important thing for me is that everything is healthy," Zietek said. "The food will be low fat and low cholesterol."

Zietek said Brama Bread will open in about two or three months.

Brama Bread will seat almost 50 people and be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. six days a week, according to a staff report.

In June, the village board approved plans to open Homemade Pizza across the street from the future Brama Bread site at 17 S. Dunton Ave., near Urban Harvest.

Homemade Pizza Co. will sell uncooked pizzas for customers to cook at home. Customers can order ahead or wait about 10 minutes while the pizza is assembled. There's no seating inside the small storefront, so either way, Homemade Pizza customers are taking their dinner home.
