Three hurt after Busse Woods picnic turns violent

Three men were injured Sunday night after a fight broke out in Busse Woods Forest Preserve in Elk Grove Village.

Around 7:45 p.m., two groups of picnickers were at Ned Brown Meadow in the park when a verbal fight started, said Steve Mayberry, Cook County Forest Preserve police spokesman.

The fight lead to a physical altercation where several people were injured.

One man was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village after suffering a fractured skull from being hit with a baseball bat, Mayberry said.

Two other men were taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. One had a defensive wound on his arm and the other man was stabbed on the arm, Mayberry said.

Officials are not releasing names of any of the injured parties.

The Cook County sheriff's police and the forest preserve police are investigating.
