Political reporter to speak at breakfast

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that Mary Ann Ahern, a political national reporter for NBC 5 Chicago since 1989 and host of "City Desk" on Sundays, has been invited to address the "Political Landscape for 2008" for the Barrington Executive Club on Friday at Makray Memorial Golf Club, 1010 E. Northwest Highway, Barrington.

Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. with the program ending before 8:30 a.m. A breakfast buffet will be served.

Ahern has covered a wide spectrum of topics including religion, elections, snowstorms, politics, Wrigley Field, and Princess Diana in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Ahern plans to share her insights and predictions as a reporter who has interviewed the majority of the candidates seeking election from county offices to the White House.

"We are so fortunate to have Mary Ann Ahern coming to speak to our group. What topic could be more timely as we begin to focus our attention on the future political landscape for our region," said Janet Meyer, president of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce.

"She is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced reporters in her field.

"We expect a capacity crowd for this political forum sponsored by the Barrington Executive Club members."

For 27 years, the Barrington Executive Club has aimed to have a strong schedule of well-known speakers, create a format for communication and participation with the area businesses, provide an atmosphere for exchange of ideas regarding mutual business and community concerns, and enhance the feeling of fellowship among professionals and executives residing and working in the Greater Barrington Area.

The meeting is open to chamber of commerce members, their guests and the general public.

Membership fees for the executive club are prorated from the beginning of each year and guarantee members a reservation for each of the meetings, as well as the ability to pass their tickets to guests should they not be able to attend.

Interested members of the community are always welcome to attend for a $40 fee per session, but seating is limited and a reservation is needed by calling the chamber of commerce at (847) 381-2525.

The fourth and final meeting of the 2007 Executive Club series will be focused on "Technology Update: What YOU need to know now" on Nov. 9 at Makray Memorial Golf Club, 1010 E. Northwest Highway in Barrington.
