Class on moms as role models scheduled

The Center for Women, a new non-profit program, is designed to provide a place for women to learn, create, nurture and connect. The center's first fall program lineup will start with "Fostering Self Esteem in Girls: Moms as Role Models" from 7 to 8:50 p.m. Thursday at the center's new facility, 507 E. Park Ave., Suite 201, Libertyville.

Mother-daughter team Rosemary and Katie Monahan will demonstrate how moms can help their daughters and themselves build confidence, make positive choices and cope with disappointment and peer pressure. Through facilitated discussion, role-playing, interactive exercises and humor, they will help participants learn to encourage self-esteem and coping skills. This class is designed for mothers of daughters and is open to mothers of sons as well. The fee for the class is $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers.
