Tetanus shots offered to Kane County residents

The Kane County Health Department is administering tetanus shots to residents affected by the recent flood waters.

The following people should be assessed by health department staff to determine if a tetanus shot is needed:

• Anyone who has received a puncture wound or has a wound that has come in contact with flood water and has not had a tetanus shot in the past five years

• Anyone who has had or anticipate having contact with flood waters and has not had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years or does not know when they last received a tetanus shot

Anyone who is in need of a tetanus shot should visit one of the health department's regularly scheduled immunization clinics. Times and locations can be found on the health department's Web site at www.kanehealth.com/immunizations.htm.
