Get handle on bike riding at Pingree Grove rodeo

It's time for kids to strap on a helmet and saddle up to join the Pingree Grove Police Department's bicycle rodeo, from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Cambridge Lakes School, off Wester Boulevard and Cambridge Lakes Drive in Pingree Grove.

Bicycling is a fun way to get exercise, but it is not without its risks. The bicycle rodeo is designed to teach riders some skills they will need in order to be safer bicyclists and reduce the chance of injury.

Bicyclists ages 5 to 12 are invited to attend. This event is made up of a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe cycling. Participants also will have their bicycles inspected. Parents are invited to participate as well.

For more information, call the police department at (847) 464-4600.
