Batavia
• A driver backed into a basketball pole in a yard on the 600 block of Van Nortwick Court, knocking it askew, between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
• Jeremy Poe, 27, of 638 Madison St., was charged at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday with criminal trespass to state-supported property at 27 N. River St. The building contains the office of Congressman Dennis Hastert.
Kane County
• A shopper in California made a $1,099.05 fraudulent charge to the credit card of a St. Charles woman between 12:35 p.m. July 31 and 12:36 p.m. Aug. 13.
• A flashlight, telephones, pliers and a Toshiba laptop computer -- with a total value of $2,556 -- were taken from a van between 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5 and 7 a.m. Aug. 6 while it was parked on the 4N500 block of Foxfield St., St. Charles.
• A "for sale" sign was stolen from the yard of a home on the 6N000 block of Westwood Lane in St. Charles between 9 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Thursday.
• Vandals knocked over five mailboxes and spray-painted a fire address sign on the 5N900 and 6N000 blocks of Ridgewood Drive, St. Charles. Graffiti was also painted on a brick subdivision entrance wall at Red Gate Road.
• Vandals spray-painted graffiti from one end to the other of a bike path tunnel underneath LaFox Road between School Road and Old LaFox Road, St. Charles. The damage was discovered at 11:51 a.m. Aug. 29.
St. Charles
• Steven R. Lapradd, 23, of 35W354 Bonfield Ave., was arrested at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 900 block of Kirk Road, police said. Lapradd was stopped while riding a bike and found to be carrying four foil packets of heroin, a spoon and syringe, police said. He also was arrested on two Kane County warrants for failure to appear in court on previous driving under the influence charges, police said.
• A car window valued at $150 was smashed Thursday on the 300 block of South 37th Avenue.
• Tools valued at $1,340 were stolen Thursday from a vehicle on the 3900 block of Commerce Drive.
• A vehicle door handle valued at $200 to $300 was damaged Wednesday in a parking lot at 3800 E. Main St.
• A car windshield and three windows valued at $1,500 total were smashed about 9:36 p.m. Sunday on the 1600 block of Indiana Street.
