Neighbor charged with sexual abuse

An Antioch man faces home invasion and sexual abuse charges after police say he entered a neighbor's home and touch her in appropriately.

Percy Rosales, 34, was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.

A neighbor of Rosales was washing dishes in her kitchen when she heard a knock at the door and recognized the visitor as Rosales, Antioch police Cmdr. James Ruth.

"She greeted (Rosales) but immediately returned to the kitchen to shut off the water," Ruth said. "At this time (Rosales) entered her home, approaching her from behind, and began fondling her."

After a brief struggle, the woman reportedly was able to push Rosales outside, where they continued struggling while he made lewd sexual comments, Ruth said.

The woman was able to summon help when Rosales' cell phone rang and she grabbed it, and asked the caller for help, Ruth said.

Police arrived at Rosales' house on the 700 block of Highview Drive and took him into custody. He smelled strongly of alcohol and was possibly under the influence of drugs, Ruth said.

Rosales was charged with one count of home invasion, punishable by six to 30 years in prison, one count of residential burglary and one count of criminal sexual abuse.

He appeared was sent to Lake County jail on $350,000 bond Friday. His next court date is Sept. 14.
