Korey Maple, Kaneland

The Maple Park school found a star in Maple in the Knights' 42-29 victory over Burlington Central. Maple hauled in a pair of touchdown receptions as part of a 6-catch, 100-yard game to open the season.

Josh Zinzer, West Aurora

The junior cornerback intercepted a pass to stall East Aurora's first drive and set the tone for West Aurora's 38-6 victory. Zinzer added a second interception later in the game that led to another West Aurora touchdown.
