Three charged in Elgin shooting

Three Elgin teenagers have been charged for their involvement in Thursday afternoon's shooting near Sheridan School, police said.

Scottie T. Rasavady, 17, of 310 Hill Ave., Elgin, and two 15-year-olds were taken into custody around 4:15 p.m. Thursday after witnesses said they saw them run into the Hill Avenue home after the shooting. No one was injured.

Rasavady was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm. His bond was set at $15,000 and he was sent to the Kane County jail this morning.

The two juveniles were scheduled to appear at a hearing this morning at the Kane County Youth Home in St. Charles.

Police recovered a partially-loaded 9 mm handgun from a bedroom in Rasavady's home, and 10 shell casings were found Thursday evening on Hill Avenue, police said.

According to a police report, the shooting occurred at 3:15 p.m. Thursday after the two 15-year-olds left Elgin High School and felt they were being followed by a car with members of a rival street gang.

They called Rasavady from their cell phones and he was waiting for the two teens and the car at Hill avenue and Franklin Boulevard with a gun, the report said.

While shots were fired, no one was hit, police said.
