Batavia

•A woman's purse was stolen from her cart at Wal-Mart, 801 N. Raddant Road, between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday.

Geneva

•A $100 Verizon cell phone and $40 was stolen from an unlocked Jaguar 2004 X-Type between 1 and 7:20 a.m. Sunday while it was parked on a driveway on the 1000 block of Loran Drive.

•A South Elgin man is charged with forgery, illegal possession of prescriptions and resisting a police officer. Matthew R. McCullough, 30, of 265 S. Collins St., is accused trying to obtain hydrocodone, a narcotic painkiller, from a pharmacy on the 700 block of East State Street, and of trying to run from police.

•Nelson Saenz, 18, of 938 W. Downer Place, Aurora, was arrested and charged with retail theft, accused of taking a brown leather-and-wool jacket from Banana Republic, 226 Commons Drive, at 8:23 p.m. Aug. 21.

Kane County

•A woman reported being harassed by callers who would laugh and then hang up, at 9:44 p.m. Saturday on the 38W000 block of Toms Trail in St. Charles Township.

•Between Aug. 1 and Aug. 18, a black backpack containing a digital camera, several memory cards, extra batteries and a portable television screen, has gone missing from a home on the 0N400 block of East Weaver Circle in Geneva. The victim thinks the bag was unloaded from her vehicle after she returned from a trip, and left in the garage. It was valued at $500.

•Someone threw eggs onto a white Chevrolet pickup and a black Mazda while they parked on the driveway of a home on Heaton Court in Sugar Grove Township between 5 and 7:10 am. Sunday.

•Between 4 p.m. Saturday and 11:55 a.m. Sunday somebody smashed the windshield of a 1998 Ford Taurus while it was parked on a driveway on Brown Farm Court in St. Charles. Damage is estimated at $400.

•Between noon and 4 p.m. Thursday someone took three of a builder's open house signs which were posted along LaFox Road. The signs cost $30 apiece. The Kane County Division of Transportation did not remove the signs.

•Someone drove over the median of the Windings subdivision on Jens Jensen Lane between 6 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Damage to the grass was estimated at $85.

•Two air compressors, two nail guns and two two-way radios were stolen from a construction trailer between 5 p.m. Aug. 20 and 6 a.m. Aug. 21 while it was parked on the 39W000 block of Longmeadow Lane in St. Charles. The items were valued at $2,660.

•Between 6 p.m. Aug. 22 and 5:56 p.m. Saturday, someone reported their neighbor was draining excess storm water from a pond on their property through a pipe that was discharging onto the complainant's property. The homes are on the 40W900 and 41W000 block of Chippewa Pass in Plato Center. The complaining homeowner said the water was filling her yard, causing water to seep into the basement and to flood her septic tank. No one was home at the offending property. The complainant was told to contact the Kane County Health Department as this is a civil matter.

St. Charles

•Daniel W. McLaughlin, 24, of 567 Garfield Ave., Aurora, was arrested at 6 a.m. Sunday at 14th and Oak streets on a DuPage County warrant for failure to appear in court on a reckless driving charge, police said.

•James R. Olvera, 23, of 1470 Crestwood Court, Aurora, was arrested at 2:20 a.m. Sunday at Best Western, 1635 E. Main St., on DuPage County warrants for failure to appear in court on charges of criminal damage to property and assault, police said.
