BookMarkers book club: BookMarkers book club will discuss "Motherland: Beyond the Holocaust" by Fern Schumer Chapman, at 7 p.m. today. The book is available at the library.

Computer tutoring: Free computer tutoring is available from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays during August. This is a walk-in program. For more information, call the adult reference desk at (847) 918-3206.

Storytimes: Because the library's story programs will no longer be drop-in, patrons wishing to register their children for Funsies with Onesies, Toddler Time, Story Tots, Preschool Stories and Evening Preschool Stories must register for the entire six-week session, which runs from Sept. 4 through Oct. 11. Patrons are asked to call if they won't be able to attend a particular program.

•Story Tots is a brand-new program for parents who can't squeeze a morning program into their schedules. Story Tots, for 1- and 2-year-olds with an adult, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays for a 20-minute program featuring stories, songs and rhymes taken from the Funsies with Onesies and Toddler Time programs.

•Funsies with Onesies, for 1-year-olds accompanied by an adult, will meet at 9:45 and 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. Funsies with Onesies is a short lapsit program featuring songs and rhymes followed by a playtime. Alternative activities are provided for siblings younger than 8 during the playtime.

•Toddler Time, for 2-year-olds accompanied by an adult, will meet at 9:45 and 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays. Toddler Time is 30 minutes of songs and dances, rhythm and rhyme. Siblings are welcome.

•Preschool Stories, for children ages 3 through pre-kindergarten 5, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Mondays and 9:45 a.m. Thursdays. Preschool Stories is an independent half-hour of stories, songs, and finger-play fun. Caregivers must remain in the Youth Services area.

•Evening Preschool Stories, at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, is the same program that is presented each week on Monday afternoon and Thursday morning. Caregivers and siblings of children ages 3 through pre-kindergarten 5 are welcome.

For more information, call (847) 918-3218.

Read To Rover: Parents may register their children ages 7 and older for the fall session of Read To Rover at Fremont Public Library. The program will be from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 19 and ending Oct. 24.

In Read To Rover, children practice their skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. The children will sign up for the same 15-minute slot for the six-week session. Because a permission form and waiver are required, parents must register their children in person at the Youth Services desk.

The certified therapy dogs are provided by Rainbow Animal-Assisted Therapy of Chicago.

Glue & Go Costumes: Artist, designer, and author Holly Cleland will present her Glue & Go Costumes program at Fremont Public Library at 2 p.m. Sept. 23. Patrons may register online or by calling (847) 918-3218.

The program is open to children from kindergarten age up, and also to adults who are interested in learning to make creative costumes out of everyday materials such as plastic cups and plates, boxes and fabric using scissors and glue. Children younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Concert series: Singer, songwriter and recording artist Joel Frankel will inaugurate Fremont Library's Sunday Concert Series at 2 p.m. Sept. 30. The series is open to patrons of all ages; children younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration begins Sept. 4. Patrons may register on the library's Web site by clicking on "Youth" and then "Calendar," or register in person at the Youth Services desk, or by calling (847) 918-3218.

Frankel is on the faculty of Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music. His children's recordings, "Don't Sit on a Cactus," "I Can't Sit Still," "JoJo's Barnyard Bash," and "Ship of Chocolate Chips," have received numerous awards, including the Dr. Toy Best Audio award, the Children's Music Web Award, and the Parent's Choice award.

Master Gardeners: The Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension are available to give advice and tips every Monday through Sept. 28, excluding holidays. They will answer gardening questions from 10 a.m. to noon. Appointments aren't required, but the master gardeners aren't able to take phone calls.

New hours: The library is now open one hour earlier Monday through Saturday. The new hours are: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The library is closed Sundays between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

E-mail notification: Patrons wanting to be notified by e-mail when reserve items are available and when library materials are due may sign up for e-mail notification through the Web site. On the site, patrons can go to "my account," then "register my e-mail address" and enter their e-mail addresses with the password "patron." Reserve items will be held for seven days from the date of the e-mail. Pre-overdue reminders are sent three days before items are due.
