Briefs: Free yoga, Pilates classes
The Norris Recreation Center, 1050 Dunham Road, St. Charles, will offer free yoga and Pilates classes starting today through Sept. 13 to nonmembers. The free yoga classes will be at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Pilates classes will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. Call (630) 377-1405.
Watch out for school buses
With school under way, Aurora police are reminding motorists to be extra cautious in school zones and around buses. In coming weeks, police will stage officers on buses on routes where drivers complain of a large number of motorists who pass buses as they load and unload children. If an officer sees a violation, they will radio a squad in the area. The backup officer will then ticket the motorist.
Shop and Share for land
The Fox Valley Land Foundation will hold a Shop and Share fundraiser today and Wednesday at all Jewel-Osco stores. By shopping at Jewel-Osco on one of those days and turning in a FVLF ID slip, 5 percent of the total purchase will be donated by Jewel to the FVLF to support conservation in Kane County and the preservation of natural areas and open space. Charity thrift store sale
Déjà Vu Thrift Shop at 427 S. Fourth St. in Geneva is having a Clothing Bag Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to Sept. 8, for $5 per bag. Deja Vu sales benefit the Southeastern District of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. The society is a Catholic lay organization that offers person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering.

Aurora's Noon Lions Club will have Aurora-Area Football Coaches' Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center, 732 Prairie St. in Aurora. Admission is $10.
