Trip to Rockford museum, gardens being planned by Art Institute club
The Barrington/Northwest Community Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago has planned a day trip for members on Sept. 19.
Rockford is the location of the first excursion for the 2007-08 season. Members will visit two well-known sites -- the historical Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum overlooking the Kent Creek and the gorgeous Anderson Japanese Gardens.
Both places were designed and built by prominent Rockford families upon returning from memorable trips -- one to Europe and the other to Japan.
The trip includes lunch at the Rockford Country Club overlooking the river.
Fee of $70 includes transportation, tours and lunch.
This trip is for members only. Reservation deadline is Sept. 7. Members must send checks to day chairman Alice Buchholz.
For more information about the trip, call Buchholz at (847) 381-3883. For information about membership, call Carol Merritt (at 847) 991-2889.
The bus departs the Harvest Bible Church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and leaves the Langendorf Park parking lot at 9 a.m. It will arrive at Anderson Gardens at 10:15 a.m. Lunch at Rockford Country Club is at noon. The bus will arrive at Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum at 1:45 p.m., and departs Rockford at 2:45 p.m.
