Board meeting: The Mundelein Park District Board of Commissioners will hold their next meeting at 8 p.m. today at the Mundelein Community Center. The public is welcome.

Elementary sign language: This beginning class for children ages 7 to 12, introduces the manual sign alphabet and a variety of signs. From 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays starting Sept. 12 at the Mundelein Community Center.

Short-term dance toddler ballet: An opportunity for 3½- to 4½-year-old children to try a dance class. The class meets from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Thursdays starting Sept. 13 at Kracklauer Studio. The class will help children prepare for higher-level classes in the future. Short term dance students do not participate in the annual dance recital. Children must be toilet trained and prepared to stay without a parent.

Fit 4 Kids: introduces fitness as a new way for kids 8 to 12 to stay active. Explore many fun fitness concepts designed just for kids, in addition to yoga, Pilates and aerobics. Activities include obstacle courses and running games played in a noncompetitive environment. This Saturday class is for kids who are looking to have fun and stay active. Located at the Mundelein Community Center, class runs from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for 10 weeks starting Sept. 15

Tumble-Fit: One of the newest programs from Fit 4 Kids takes basic tumbling and adds more movement and games. For ages 4 to 8 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for 10 weeks starting Sept. 15 at the Mundelein Community Center.

Sport-Fit: This class is for 6 - 8 year old sports fans, who will use basic sports skills to get fit and learn how sports are exercise. Sports covered include basketball, football, baseball and soccer from 1:45 to 2:45 Saturdays for 10 weeks starting on Sept. 15 at Mundelein Community Center. This is another Fit 4 Kids curriculum.

Youth basketball leagues: The Mundelein Park and Recreation District's youth basketball leagues are ready to start again for the 2007-08 school year. The leagues are open to boys and girls. There will be no practices or skills training during the week.

The league is divided into five divisions: first and second grade, third and fourth grade, fifth and sixth grade, seventh and eighth grade, and fifth through seventh grade All Girls League. There will be a clinic prior to league play where coaches will evaluate the participants, place them on teams, give out the uniforms and schedule for the remaining weeks. After the first week of games, some players may be switched around to balance the skill level of the teams.

Most divisions will play at the Carl Sandburg Middle School Gym with the exception of the first and second grade division, which will play at the Mundelein Community Center Gym.

All sessions are eight weeks long, with a minimum of 28 players and a maximum of 64. The cost for the eight weeks is $50 for Mundelein Park District residents and $75 for those out of the district. For details, call (847) 566-0650.
