Fund public transit that the public uses
I read Monday's editorial regarding Metra needing additional funds to repair bridges.
Here's some food for thought.
When I see a Pace bus on the road, there are usually fewer than five people on the bus, including the driver. This seems like a waste of money to me. One can only imagine what is the real cost per rider. It would be interesting to see figures reflecting Pace's budget and ridership.
Why not do away with Pace? The money saved could then be given to those public transit services the people actually use, such as Metra and CTA.
Certainly some accommodation could be made for those few folks who are inconvenienced.
