Elgin brothers accused of stealing hardwood flooring
Two Elgin brothers were accused Thursday of stealing 80 boxes of flooring material, police said.
Juan, 32, and Jesus Picasso, 21, both of 315 N. Gifford St., Elgin, were charged with burglary and theft, according to court records.
The 60 boxes of hardwood flooring, 20 boxes of carpet tile squares and eight 4-gallon buckets of adhesive found in their van matched material in a nearby semitrailer on the lot of Shaw Industries, 2410 Galvan Drive, Elgin, police said.
Jesus Picasso said in court Friday he worked at Shaw Industries as an inventory control employee. Juan Picasso said he was unemployed.
When police asked the brothers where they got the flooring material, they said it was from a garbage bin, police said.
However, police said they looked all over the parking lot and couldn't find a bin.
A representative from the company told police the brothers didn't have permission to take the supplies.
Both posted $6,000 bonds Friday and were given Sept. 13 court dates at the Kane County Judicial Center.
