Football preview: Glenbard West at Glenbard South
Glenbard West at Glenbard South
Nonconference
Game time: 1:30 p.m., Saturday.
Last year: Did not play.
Outlook: Those with long memories may recall Glenbard West beating the Raiders 10-6 in 1986 and 31-0 in 1987, the only two times the District 87 schools have faced each other. Entering this Cross Town Kick-off Classic, first-year Glenbard West coach Chad Hetlet will field a squad deep enough to initially avoid the usual seven two-way starters. Standouts include 270-pound junior tackle Chris Watt, tight end Kane Kiernan and tackle Brad Krumwiede. Glenbard South will unveil its pass-oriented spread offense with junior quarterback Kevin Marshall at the helm. The key to the offense will be receiver Will Hill, a third-year starter, and a line with no returning starters. Defensively keep an eye on returning linebackers Mike Oratowski and Greg Calabrese.
Next week: Leyden at Glenbard West; Glenbard South at Fenton.
