Man accused of having sex with 14-year-old

A 23-year-old Elgin man Wednesday was accused of having sexual relations with his 14-year-old girlfriend, police said.

Daniel Quirarte of 304 Moseley St., was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault, police said.

The mother of the victim called police in March asking them to talk to Quirarte and the girl, who was only 14 years old, police said. They were dating at the time, police said.

Quirarte was told by officers that it was illegal to have sex with her since she was underage, police said.

The girl, who is now 15 years old, also is pregnant, police said.

Quirarte cried during his Thursday bond hearing and was ordered to have no contact with the girl.

Quirarte was held in the Kane County jail on $15,000 bond. His next court date is Sept. 14 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
