'Robocop' gets remastered for 20th anniversary
When the film "Robocop" was released in 1987, audiences responded positively to the great special effects and a character they had never seen before. It was a thought-provoking science-fiction film that featured a main character who is part man, part machine. There is a lot of violent action mixed with satire, and the film ultimately garnered two Oscar nominations and won a special achievement award for sound effects editing. The film spawned two theatrical sequels, a live-action TV series, a miniseries, three animated TV series, a theme-park ride, video games and action figures.
"Robocop: 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition" (MGM, two discs, $22.98)
The special edition, which has been remastered for the best video and audio quality, includes an extended cut of the film, audio commentaries, featurettes, deleted scenes, photo gallery, trailer, TV spot and more.
