Briefs: Baxter launches new initiative

DEERFIELD -- Baxter International Inc. announced that it will launch Gardian, a program to provide continued access for patients relying on IGIV products including Gammagard Liquid and Gammagard S/D replacement therapies containing broad-spectrum immunoglobulins, which are indicated for patients with primary immunodeficiency. The immunodeficiency is a group of genetic disorders in which the immune system fails to produce adequate amounts of antibodies, thereby predisposing individuals to increased risk of infection.

CTI Industries releases financials

BARRINGTON -- CTI Industries Corp., a manufacturer of latex and metalized balloons, novelty items, packaging and storage bags, and printed and laminated films, released financial results for its second quarter and for the six months ending June 30. For the quarter, net sales were $9.2 million, an increase of 2.9 percent. The company realized a net profit for the quarter of $423,000 compared to a net profit for the same period in 2006 of $206,000.
