Legion rolls on in Oklahoma

Rockport, Ind., will represent the Great Lakes Regional in the American Legion Baseball World Series.

The Indiana team will play Columbia, Tenn., on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Bartlesville, Okla.

Other teams in the World Series are Burlington, Vt.; Bellingham, Wash.; Eden Prairie, Minn.; Tucson, Ariz.; Boyertown, Pa.; and Bryant, Ark.

Rockport defeated Apple Valley, Minn., 7-2 Monday for the title in Menominee, Mich., the regional site that also featured Arlington Heights.

After losing to Arlington in the tourney opener 11-1, Apple Valley won 4 straight games.

Blissfield, Mich., the team that eliminated Arlington Heights 10-7, bowed out of the tourney with a 6-4 loss to Norchester, Pa. Norchester then lost to Apple Valley 2-1.
