Grandpas will step up, save the day
Thanks to recalls, there is a real possibility toys will be in short supply this holiday season, leaving shoppers scrambling. Not to worry, there is a group of folks working to ensure that won't happen.
I call them the Grandpas. You've seen them. The older gentlemen at the craft fairs. Santa-like in demeanor, and often in appearance, the Grandpas emerge from basement workshops each autumn to offer the simpler toys of childhood. Pull toys, puzzles, hobby horses, all lovingly handmade in the USA by these skilled craftsmen. But no one stops to buy. No, toy money is spent on items from China at the big box stores.
Well, this year is different! Fire up the jig saws, Grandpas. Get those sanders humming. We know you can solve the toy shortage. Cars, planes, blocks...we need everything you've got to ensure a safe and happy holiday season for the children. And for us. Like always, we know we can depend on you.
Looks like the Greatest Generation is going to save our butts once again. God Bless the Grandpas, and be sure to check out their offerings at the upcoming craft shows and fairs.
