Manhunt under way in Barrington Hills; students delayed in leaving school

Barrington Hills police were searching for two robbery suspects on foot at mid-afternoon today.

Police were not commenting sand details are sketchy, but officials at Barrington Area Unit District 220 recently released an alert to their parents.

"The police department has informed us that they are currently in pursuit of two robbery suspects in the South Barrington area," the letter stated. "As a result we are holding all Barrington High School and middle school buses going to South Barrington until we receive an all clear from the police. If this situation is not resolved by the end of the elementary school day buses will also be held at Rose Elementary School."

Superintendent Tom Leonard said some students in the district are also in a weather advisory, which may delay students from getting home on time also.

Other schools in the area also were reportedly delaying student departures until weather conditions improved.

According to police, the search for the robbery suspects is taking place in the area of Routes 59 and 68.
