ComEd worker killed by power line

A ComEd employee was fatally electrocuted while working on a power line in Lombard Tuesday.

The 25-year-old employee was electrocuted around 2:27 p.m. near 135 S. Lodge Lane, police said.

The employee was working on an overhead energized power line. The unnamed employee was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove and was later pronounced dead, Lombard police said.

ComEd spokeswoman Judy Rader confirmed the fatality late Tuesday.

"Everyone at ComEd extends our deepest sympathy to our co-worker's family," she said.

"We take safety very seriously, it's an important priority," Rader said.

"This is an unusual and very sad situation."

The employee's name was being withheld until family could be notified, DuPage County coroner's office officials said late Tuesday.

The coroner's office, Lombard police and ComEd are investigating the fatality.
