City OKs $566,000 in grants for mental health agencies

Twenty-three mental health agencies that serve St. Charles residents are getting a $566,000 shot in the arm.

St. Charles aldermen this week approved that much in grants to the nonprofits through the city's Mental Health Board.

The money, which comes from a 4 cent property tax levied by the city, constitutes 23 individual grants ranging from $1,100 to $176,000.

TriCity Family Services, a Geneva-based counseling center received the largest grant.

Six others to receive more than $25,000 were: the Association of Individual Development, $55,000; Easter Seals of DuPage and the Fox River Valley, $40,000; the Ecker Center, $55,000; Fox Valley Hospice, $30,000; Lazarus House, $38,000; and Renz Addiction Counseling Center, $44,100.

The city also gave $31,100 total to five middle and high schools in St. Charles.

Altogether, the organizations had requested $574,600 in funding. They received about 99 percent of that.
